Day 72 – Hard Work is Better Than a Stink Eyed Nose

It’s come to my attention that a lot of comedians think that the way to get ahead in the comedy world/scene/whatever you want to call it; is by rubbing nose to brown eye and instead of hard work. Rubbing elbows and calling in a favor is different. People realize fakeness, but some are more susceptible than others to the fakeness.

You can be nice and have friends that really matter in this business, or you can beg and kiss ass for what you want. The only problem is if you aren’t working hard at your craft then all of the ass kissing won’t help you a bit. When someone sees you fail repeatedly with chances given from brown can hole sniffing and you are not get better over time, your nose won’t be the only thing that needs to be colored brown.

Those people who helped you and gave you some breaks will leave you behind because you are not helping their cause. I like to give people help/advice, but not from the pain of being violated. I find it cheap, unauthentic, and an insult to be a kiss ass. If someone likes you, let them like you for you and not your fake side. Being a 2 faced bitch will get you somewhere, then eventually nowhere.

When you work hard on your act it gets noticed. When you have a great act to present and work hard on self-promoting it won’t go unnoticed (double negative…whatever). When you are where you want to be in your craft, find somewhere new to go. Then help others get where you were. It doesn’t help you by keeping everyone else down. If you are cock blocking people out of gigs and not helping them get work; word will travel fast. Sure bad press is good press but not when it’s people on the inside telling each other that someone is being a fucking clown.

How quickly do you identify these types of douches?
